For nearly 15 years, I worked in Learning & Development and talent and recruiting programs at multinational technology companies, helping both professionals and those early-in-career navigate their careers and communicate effectively across cultures.

As a Korean adoptee raised in the United States, I've spent much of my life (1987-2025) navigating different cultures, identities, and perspectives. In 2025, I made the life-changing decision to relocate to South Korea—my birth country—to reconnect with my heritage and build a new chapter of my life.

Those experiences, both personal and professional, shaped the vision for BEYOND FLUENCY.

I created BEYOND FLUENCY because I believe success in a global workplace requires more than language proficiency. It requires the ability to communicate with confidence, build meaningful relationships, navigate cultural differences, and lead effectively across borders.

Today, I help professionals develop those skills so they can achieve their career goals and thrive in an increasingly connected world.

My career has centered on solving complex problems, improving organizational processes, and making complicated information easier to understand. Over more than a decade in banking and financial services, I worked across operations, business continuity, process improvement, and organizational resilience, leading teams and initiatives focused on making organizations more effective and adaptable.

My background in visual communication and photography has also shaped how I approach communication. I'm naturally drawn to finding clear, accessible ways to present information and connect ideas through data, design, writing, and conversation.

In 2025, I relocated from the United States to South Korea with my wife and began navigating a new cultural and professional environment of my own. That experience gave me a deeper appreciation for how much effective communication depends on context, adaptability, and understanding perspectives beyond our own.

Those experiences led me to BEYOND FLUENCY, where I joined my wife, Sarah, as a co-founder. I believe strong communication requires more than vocabulary or language proficiency—it requires understanding the person, culture, and context on the other side of the conversation, along with the confidence and flexibility to adapt.

At BEYOND FLUENCY, I bring an operational, analytical, and creative perspective to help turn that philosophy into practical tools and experiences for professionals working across cultures.
